
When approached by a local who was begging for alms, the athlete/beauty queen did not have on-hand cash. To her surprise though, the beggar had a barcode–giving her the option for a cashless transaction! “May nanlimos dito sa SG, sabi ko sorry no cash. Pinakitaan ako ng barcode,” Michele wrote along with a Fearful Face emoji.

The tweet inevitably went viral with netizens pouring some “haha” and laughing emoji replies. “Next level,” most people reacted, while somebody quipped, “advanced sa SG eh!” Another also noted, “iba na talaga panahon ngayon.”
Meanwhile, a Twitter user in China typed in a similar experience. “Same here in Shanghai, mga beggars sa downtown nakasabit sa leeg nila QR code to scan. Dalawa pa yun, WeChat and Alipay,” they wrote.
